Policy 4.12 in BBC’s Local Plan is currently still applied to this area, which resists significant development in the Conservation Area.

The woods and listed cottages in particular have seen relatively little investment or management over recent years.  The cottages are privately rented but their yield has not covered the costs of general maintenance.  Many have amenities, which are considered sub-standard to modern needs.  Whites Farm has also been neglected for many years.

Whites FarmThe woodland itself, and the lack of a Management Plan has allowed it to grow unchecked.  A Management Plan will be developed to allow more appealing access to the community.  This could be tackled over a period of years, but will need a programme of works.
